Every
form of excuse as to why our nation is suffering in this depression has
been spoken and/or written, yet no one seems to be interested in a
resolution. Americans are losing their jobs, their livelihoods and
their homes. And through all of this, who suffers the most - our
children. Think this can't happen to you, think again!

Businesses are suffering from the lack of patronage from the
persons who have lost their jobs. When enough people are laid off,
businesses close their doors, and workers lose their jobs. This
problem has a trickle down effect on everyone.

Who should be trying to resolve these problems? Churches? Salvation Army? Government? Charitable organizations? Yes....but this is a national problem that should be addressed by all Americans.

That cup of coffee from Starbucks every morning costs about $90
per month. What if you gave that amount to get assistance for those
that have been laid off with career resources and job assistance, so
they can become productive again to boost the economy.

If your organization has jobs available, why don't you provide that information to a company that is trying to help. The
Wright Resume.Net has taken ownership in this crisis and is working to
provide free career resources and job assistance, but we need your
help. Because we have partnered with a non-profit organization, all donations are tax free.

We are trying to develop a network of companies that can and are
willing to help. Help us to minimize the continued drain of our
nation's economy by getting involved. Please visit our website at thewrightresume.net, visit our cause at yourcause.com, or for additional information, please give us a call at 888-286-9834 nationwide, or 682-503-6399 in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas

WASHINGTON,
D.C. -- What is my worth? Many people believe that skills, experience
and education are the ONLY things that affect your salary. But other
factors, such as location, industry and company size can determine your
worth. Worth sometimes depends on the state of the job market and the
personality of the applicant.

Personality is a very important
factor, because you may have the best background but if your
personality does not mesh into an organization, you may not get what
you are worth. How do you determine the typical salary for a position?
Check the job announcement for a salary range. Do some research. For a
unique
job, look at job sites specific to your industry and occupation.

Most
job seekers are anxious about salary discussions and want to get them
over as soon as possible. However, talk about the job before you talk
salary. Create a job (offer) that suits both you and the hiring
manager. Make sure it is at an appropriate level for you. If the job
is too low-level, don't ask about the money, instead upgrade the job.
Start salary negotiations once you have a job offer. However, if you
are in your final round of interviews and the employer still hasn't
mentioned salary, ask how much they are offering, or a salary range for
the position.

Your traditional job search plan may need a renovation. Career
counselors agree, the keys to starting a career in today's economy are
flexibility and creativity, not rigid planning. There are career
possibilities for job seekers who have a strategy. Use the poor economy
as a
chance to stand out!

Job seekers need to be more flexible and
realistic in how they envision a new job. They'll probably be in
smaller markets, and may not be what you had in mind. The job market is
changing. Consider government jobs, technology jobs, health care,
education and other service fields that are growing. Job seekers need
to
think outside the box when choosing a career. Be more creative.

It's
important to have a strategy for finding a job. Networking is key to
your successes. Career fairs and job shadowing are excellent ways to
meet professionals in your chosen field. Get experience in any way you
can! Job experience makes you more competitive. Don't let the
tough environment give you an excuse to not do anything. Now is the
time to stand out from the crowd. Make yourself known in the
professional world you plan on entering.

<![endif]-->By Kelly Johnson – Abridged from Military.com

Applying for a federal career in the same fashion that you would apply for a private-sector job is not going to get you very far. There are some stark differences between the public and private sector, and that includes the way you submit a resume and application for a federal job.

The Partnership for Public Service - an organization dedicated to promoting the benefits of working for the public sector - wants to help you understand the federal hiring process, so that you not only know what to expect from this practice, but to also learn to become a better job candidate.

Here's how you get started:

Step No.1: Apply online. The PPS warns that you should know that the application process for virtually all federal jobs is conducted online through USAJobs.gov. After you select the job you're interested in apply for you proceed to the next step.

Step No.2: Select Carefully. Applications tailored to specific jobs that are a good match for your skills and talents will be more successful than sending out a standard resume for many jobs.

Call US AT THEWRIGHTRESUME.NET TO WRITE OR REVISE YOUR RESUME, AND DEVELOP YOUR KSAs. 682-503-6399. Visit us on the web at www.thewrightresume.net.

*Bonus tip: Keep in mind that your skills must match the position's prerequisites. Private-sector employers may have the flexibility to adjust the requirements of the position to a preferred candidate. This is not the case in the public sector. Federal hiring managers adhere to strict qualifications and if you're not familiar with those standards, it will hurt your chances.

Step No.3: Plan ahead. The federal application process will have more steps than you may be used to. Allow plenty of time to thoroughly complete your applications.

Step No.4: Prepare for to wait. It can take weeks before you'll hear back about an application and there may be little or no communication from the agency, reports the PPS. Every federal job requires a background check, and if the position is related to national security you'll need to complete the security clearance process once you receive an offer. This may prolong the time period even more.

After you have submitted all of the necessary paperwork, the agency you applied for will review your application. The public sector review applications using the KSA process. Once the evaluation is complete, those who meet the minimum/basic qualification are ranked in order of scores (with veterans' preference applied) and referred to a hiring manager. If you don't meet the qualifications for the job, the agency will let you know.

Call Us at TheWrightResume.net to assist you in obtaining federal or state employment. 682-503-6399 in the DFW area, and 888-286-9834 Nationwide.

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT JOB PROCESS - One of the services provided by TheWrightResume.net.

Team Redstone is always looking for new talent to add to our high caliber staff. The potential of new jobs coming to Redstone Arsenal because of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) law may bring some significant employment opportunities in the next few years. This information paper is designed to help you navigate the federal civilian hiring process and find the right job for you.

The process of applying for a federal job is not easy. You have to be persistent and be willing to devote extensive time to resume development and job searches, but the rewards of working for the government and serving your country are worth the time and effort. Critical to your effort is reading, understanding, and using the unique language used by the federal government to quantify job requirements, educational qualifications, and the knowledge, skills, and abilities associated with the career you wish to pursue.

Federal positions are considering “competitive service”, which means that the best and most qualified applicant for a position is supposed to get the job. When a federal job is advertised (usually called an “announcement”) we often get hundreds of applicants for a single position. Applications received are screened for qualifications and then those applicants determined to best qualified are referred to the “selecting” official for further review. These managers have the option of contacting applicants for interviews or may select based upon what they see in the application. Most federal jobs will require a minimum of a Bachelors degree from an accredited institution. Many times, experience can be substituted for education; however, you must clearly document this job experience to get credit for it.

Many federal jobs will require security clearances. This could mean that a formal background investigation will be conducted on you by a federal agency to ensure that you are worthy of the trust inherent in a federal job. Even if you are selected for a federal job, if the position requires a clearance, you must satisfactorily undergo the investigation to retain the job.

Some federal jobs require “mandatory mobility.” The nature of these jobs requires that the person in them routinely move to another area, typically every two to seven years. This movement ensures career development opportunities and provides a new “set of eyes” to enhance federal programs. The job announcement should state if a position requires this.

In today’s unsure economy with ever-rising fuel prices, wouldn’t it be nice to make money from the comfort of your home? The popularity of working from home is on the rise for a myriad of reasons and with the recent advances in technology, the percentage of Americans working from home has doubled in the last few years.

New doors of opportunity are opening every day. If you are looking for an idea, here are some of the most popular ways to make money from home:

Photography - If photography has always been your hobby or passion, then the old adage, ‘Do what you love and the money will follow’ may be true for you. Setting up a studio in an extra room or a corner of your home is an easy, quick start up business. If you are low on funds for advertising, make phone calls to private schools and start with children’s portraits. This can easily lead into family portraits, weddings, and more.

Child Care - Most states have licensing requirements that involve taking a short course and paying a license fee. If you have the patience and dedication it takes to work with small children, this can be a lucrative home business.

Accounting - Have a knack for numbers? Many individuals need an accountant that will pick up their paperwork and do the work from home. With accounting software programs live online, it is now just as easy to obtain accounting work from large corporations as it is with the mom-and-pop operations.

Tutoring or Lessons - If you have a gift for teaching, it’s relatively easy to start a tutoring business. Just make sure you have a college level understanding of the subject you are interested in tutoring.

You may even consider teaching English as a second language if you live in an area with such a need. Don’t limit yourself to ‘one on one’ either. In some situations, especially if you are giving art or music lessons, you may want to teach several students at once. This will help to increase your revenues.

Sell a Product Online - With online auctions like EBay out there, it‘s easy to make money from home by selling online. Once you have a product in mind, do a few test auctions to see how popular it will be. Soon you will find something with enough profit margin to make it worth your while. If you don’t have enough money to invest in an inventory, find a company willing to drop ship and you will be able to start this business with little to no investment.

Graphic Design - Are you a Photoshop guru? If so, there are plenty of opportunities for you to make money from home. Build yourself a portfolio and offer your services to printing and marketing companies in your area. Doing piecework is much more lucrative than working by the hour, and if you also have layout experience you can charge by the page.

Web Design - If you can write html code or work with css, you can literally be making a full time income within a few weeks. Start by offering your services on Craigslist or on a work at home forum online. There are plenty of opportunities out there for the web designer and most of them do work out of their homes.

Americans want to spend more time with their families instead of being stuck in a cubicle or driving for an hour just to get to their job. Obtaining full time work from the comfort of a ‘home office’ is not only possible, it is becoming the norm. There are plenty of opportunities out there and with a little motivation, you too can make money from home!

A resume is a chronological history of your education, honors, qualifications and job history. It should show the uniqueness of what you bring and have brought to your positions.

Should you or should you not provide an objective to your resume? Many different resume services have a different take on this subject. What is the purpose of an objective? Does it provide the employer with what you can bring to their team, or does it just signify what you are looking for in a job? It is our concerted opinion that unless you are just graduating from school, instead of providing an objective, you should always give a brief profile of your qualifications. This shows the hiring manager what you can bring to the company.

Also, if you are just graduating from school, the most relevant aspect of your resume should be your education and G.P.A, which comes after your objective or profile.

Always write your resume without the use of pronouns, i.e., I, we, etc. Ensure that you are writing with a position in mind, this is your goal focus. Use bulleted points, this makes for easier reading. Also, if you belong to any organizations, do not add those organizations unless they are professional organizations, and shows the reader that you are interested in your community.

For more information, feel free to email us or give us a call.

The web is great! But the onset of so much accessibility to info comes internet fraud and scam work from home positions. There are companies that will hire you to work from home for an hourly wage, but how do you know which ones are legitimate and which are fraudulent?

There are significant numbers of positions that are posted by third world companies. I have not found one that was legitimate. If you apply for a position and receive an email saying they are ready to hire you and your responsibility is to receive payments and wire the money to a company overseas....this is internet fraud. If you do receive one of these, immediately inform the website where the job was posted. Also, go to the FBI website and forward this information.

Unfortunately, a number of positions that are posted by persons in the US are scams. Some of these want you to send money to start a position or want to hire you based on commission.

Always check a company out as thoroughly as you can before signing any contracts or agreeing to accept assignments. Check with the BBB, and check as much online as you can. Some legitimate companies are not posted with the BBB. Call the company directly and ask what they do, where they are, how many employees, how long they have been in business, etc. But don't stop there. Make sure you are dealing with a reputable company before doing anything that will possibly put you in the middle of a crime ring.

There are true work from home positions out there, however, a legitimate company does not require you to send any money to work from home. If you have any questions, we are more than happy to speak with you.

Return to:
www.thewrightresume.net.
